Skiers only, a cap on daily tickets and the biggest expansion in its history. What to know before you go in 2026-27.

Deer Valley is ten minutes from Park City, yet it's a different trip altogether. It's the mountain we choose when someone asks for the most comfortable ski experience in the US: show up, everything works, no lines. And it has changed so much in the last two winters that even if you know it, you should plan it like a first visit.
It's been the mountain's choice from the start: Deer Valley is skiers-only, just like Alta. Many families see that as a plus, since the runs stay smoother and the pace is calmer. If someone in your group snowboards, the fix is next door: Park City Mountain allows it.
The other defining choice is its cap on daily ticket sales. In practice, you feel it most during the holidays, when the limit gets reached. If you're going then, sort your pass or tickets out before you travel.

Since December 2024, Deer Valley has added 11 new lifts and more than doubled its skiable terrain. The project, called Expanded Excellence, opened a whole new sector to the east with its own entrance: East Village, right off the highway, with a gondola and 1,200 parking spaces.
For 2026-27, the Hail Peak Express chairlift opens, with 200 acres and seven new runs from beginner to expert. That takes the mountain to 4,500 acres and 209 runs. The full plan points to more than 5,700 acres, and the new East Village lodge, with ski school, rentals and food, opens in winter 2027-28.
Our advice: if you last skied Deer Valley before 2024, the east side is new terrain for you. It deserves a full day.

It's among the best. It has wide learning areas, long green runs from high on the mountain and a highly regarded ski school. One tip: private lessons on peak dates sell out before the hotels do, so book them along with your lodging.

The full Ikon Pass, which includes seven days at Deer Valley. The Ikon Base, the cheaper version, doesn't include it, and the Epic doesn't work here. No. Deer Valley is skiers-only. Snowboarders can head to Park City Mountain, ten minutes away.
About 4,500 skiable acres and 209 runs, with the new Hail Peak Express. That's more than double its size before the expansion began in December 2024.
The full Ikon Pass, with seven days. The Ikon Base and the Epic Pass don't include it.
Both work very well. Deer Valley is quieter and more polished; Park City is bigger, with more going on in town. Many families combine the two on one trip.
